Electro Magnetic Frequencies - A 21st Century Problem
When you consider that the amount of EMF that we encounter in one day is the equivalent to what our grandparents encountered in their entire lifetimes, then you can begin to understand the magnitude of what our bodies are facing each day. There is research now coming out of Europe (who are easily a decade ahead of us in terms of EMF exposure) that is cause for concern. It is a growing problem that we are not yet acknowledging or addressing in New Zealand.
It is not just about cell-phones... but all wireless technology. There are currently @ 5-6 billion cellphones in operation right now. We are living in a matrix or grid of electromagnetic frequency. We also have an electrical field in our home – all of these together create EMF radiation or “dirty electricity".
A growing body of evidence shows that wireless radiation can be dangerous in a number of different ways. The World Health Organization (WHO) has already listed cell phones as “possibly carcinogenic to humans”—in the same category as lead, engine exhaust, DDT, and jet fuel. Additionally, studies in Europe show that people who used a cell phone heavily for over ten years have a doubled risk of brain cancer, and those who begin using cell phones as teenagers have a four to five times higher chance of being diagnosed with brain cancer.
In addition to brain cancer, health concerns from cell phone wireless radiation include increased oxidative stress, altered brain activity, hearing loss, fertility issues and impacts on brain neuron maturation.
It is important to know that children are more vulnerable: Children have thinner skulls and receive 2x the exposure that adults do in the brain and 10x in the bone marrow of the skull, as pointed out by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Here are some simple solutions to minimising your EMF exposure:
- Have your home and office environment inspected for EMF radiation. Ensure these are safe and healthy places to be. You need someone to come through your home with the many different metres to test these levels.
- Diminish all wireless technology in your life. It is greatly affecting your health whether you are aware of it or not. At the very least, put these appliances on a timer so that they switch off at night. Especially your wireless router. It is easy enough to plug it into a timer to ensure it is off during your sleeping hours. Maybe your neighbours will consider using a timer, so their WiFi is not roaming around your house at night also.
- If you have a smart meter in your home – remove it. Contact your power company and ask if they will remove it and replace it with an old analogue meter. A lot of them with not “go backwards”, if this is the case with yours, contact Powershop and they will replace it for you – they are a power supply company where you purchase power packs to use at a slightly discounted rate. If you do not have one, do not opt into the scheme when approached.
- Hardwire your internet connection instead of using wifi. The wires keep EMF’s contained rather than having them roaming throughout your office and home.
- Keep cellphones off your body except when using them. They use you as a ground, and offset your own natural frequencies which is different to these -man made devices. Read your cellphone manual - almost all cellphone manuals advise that the cellphone should not be used closer than 1/2 to 1″ of distance between the cell phone and your body at all times; but the warning is buried in the fine print. For specific cellphone usage guidelines see below.
- Children should only use cell phones next to their heads for emergencies. Children’s skulls are thinner than adults’ and their brains are still developing. Hence, radiation from cell phones penetrates more deeply into their brains and is likely to cause more damage. Texting (while holding the phone away from their body) is still fine for kids
- Get a home phone ( a corded phone – not a wireless phone). Use this phone to return the calls that you receive on your cell phone (as much as possible). We need to use our cell phones more wisely.
- Get a cell phone case (PONG) that is shielded for EMF radiation. Earbuds can be purchased from J3 (they are made of wood) and keep the radiation from travelling to your head.
- Never use your laptop or tablet sitting on your body – sit it on a desk
- Diet. Eat as much organic living foods as possible. Cleanse our body regularly of all that does not serve us. We are an accumulation of all of our choices.
- Drink water. High quality and pure water
- Get outside every day into nature. Take breaks throughout the day and walk barefoot on the grass to earth your body. Starting your day this way, will shape your day.
- Inform yourself. I can recommend the documentary - Resonance, beings of frequency.
- Look into Earthing products. www.earthing.co.nz
- Shower/ bathe before you go to bed each evening
- Surround yourself with natural products – including cleaning products and natural fibre clothing and bedding. Man made product/ synthetic substances vibrate a certain energy. These are best reduced.
- Do not sleep on a mattress with springs. Metal springs act as a conductor of the EMF’s in your home. You want to be sleeping on a mattress made from natural fibres
- Remove any metal piercings, jewellery from your body. These too attract and conduct EMF
Specific Cellphone Guidelines:
- While talking on your cell phone, try to keep the cell phone away from your body as much as possible - use speaker phone or a wired headset (not Bluetooth). The amplitude of the electromagnetic field (radiation) is one fourth the strength at a distance of two inches and fifty times lower at three feet.
- Avoid using your cell phone when the signal is weak or when moving at high speed, such as in a car or train, as this automatically increases power to a maximum as the phone repeatedly attempts to connect to a new relay antenna.
- Avoid carrying your cell phone on your body at all times. Do not keep it near your body at night such as under the pillow or on a bedside table, particularly if pregnant. You can also put it on “flight” or “off-line” mode, which stops electromagnetic emissions.
- If you must carry your cell phone on you, make sure that the keypad is positioned toward your body and the back is positioned toward the outside so that the transmitted electromagnetic fields move away from you rather than through you.
- Only use your cell phone to establish contact or for conversations lasting a few minutes, as the biological effects are directly related to the duration of exposure. For longer conversations, use a land line with a corded phone, not a cordless phone, which also uses electromagnetic emitting technology similar to that of cell phones.
- Switch sides regularly while communicating on your cell phone to spread out your exposure. Before putting your cell phone to the ear, wait until your correspondent has picked up. This limits the power of the electromagnetic field emitted near your ear and the duration of your exposure.
- When possible, communicate via text messaging rather than making a call, to limit the duration of exposure and the proximity to the body.
- Avoid using your cell phone in places like a bus, where you can passively expose others to your phone’s electromagnetic fields.
- Read your cellphone manual and to find the minimum distance that your cellphone must be kept away from yourself whether in use or in stand-by mode. Keeping it closer than the designated distance can result in a violation of the FCC Exposure Limit.
